Product Lifetime

Product Longevity
and Classification

The lifetime of Hailo’s products is typically 5 to 15 years, consistent with customers’ requirements.

We are committed to product longevity for our customers and have internal policies in place to uphold this commitment.

To aid customer decision-making when selecting Hailo products, we clearly designate the status of each product as Preview, Active and Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND). When we classify a product as NRND, we do this to reinforce our commitment to product longevity, for the rare occasions where there may be a potential issue that may affect the product quality or our ability to manufacture the product for long term.

Product Status Categories

PREVIEW

This product is not in production, although samples or experimental parts are available for purchase. This product may be subject to changes until it is released to production.

ACTIVE

This product has been released to production and is available for purchase. For some products, newer versions may be available.

NOT RECOMMENDED
FOR NEW DESIGNS

This product continues to be in production to support existing customers. This product has no or limited design support for new designs from Hailo.

Product Shelf-Life

Hailo carefully monitors and controls its internal manufacturing and storage processes to deliver products with appropriate customer shelf-life performance. The shelf life of a Hailo product is determined based on its date code.

Customer product shelf life refers to the length of time the customer can properly store a product. The method and conditions in which the products are stored and handled are essential for ensuring that the products will meet the expected shelf life. Customers shall follow the information provided on the product packages with guidelines regarding the acceptable length of environmental exposure. Note that certain products are moisture-sensitive and therefore require special packing in MBBs.

Supply and Discontinuity

Hailo follows the JEDEC/ECIA/IPC standard J-STD-048 (Notification Standard for Product Discontinuance).

  • We will provide at least six months’ notice before the Hailo product is discontinued and no longer available for purchase, or 12 months (minimum) notification from last shipment date. Following this announcement, we encourage customers to place End-of-Life (EOL) orders to secure their desired units.
  • Software updates and support will cease after the Hailo product is officially discontinued.
  • When we announce the discontinuation of a Hailo product, we will also recommend compatible replacement solutions and the best upgrade path to ensure a smooth transition for our customers.
  • Our customers can expect 7 to 10 years of supply continuity, with a minimum guarantee depending on the product type.

Product Change Notification (PCN)

Hailo is committed to delivering the highest quality products to our customers. This commitment extends beyond initial product release. We continuously evaluate and implement improvement strategies, which may necessitate modifications, updates, or even discontinuation of certain products or their manufacturing processes.

To ensure consistent product quality and customer satisfaction, Hailo adheres to stringent notification procedures for significant changes impacting product form, fit, function, quality, or reliability. These procedures comply with industry standards.

Prior to implementing any notifiable change, Hailo provides well-defined Product Change Notifications (PCNs) containing the following information:

  • Detailed description of the change: A clear explanation of the alteration made.
  • Reason for the change: Justification for the implemented modification.
  • PCN tracking number: Unique identifier for referencing the specific change.
  • Affected product identification: List of products impacted by the change.
  • Hailo contact information: Dedicated point of contact for inquiries.
  • Anticipated impact: Potential effects on product characteristics (positive or negative).
  • Qualification plan and results: Verification process and its outcome (or schedule if results are pending).
  • Sample availability date: When modified product samples will be available.
  • Projected production shipment date: Estimated timeline for new production shipments incorporating the change.

For modifications to automotive devices, Hailo adheres to automotive industry standards.

Return Material Authorization

Hailo values customer satisfaction, and we handle customer returns with precision and urgency. To guarantee a prompt resolution of customer concerns, we have implemented a structured customer return process for those seeking to return parts. This process incorporates incident tracking and analysis of failure mechanism data to foster ongoing quality improvements and enhancements.
